About ten years ago, the Principal of Philadelphia School was looking for a way to positively promote our school. Being an avid train collector, his idea was to build a small scale train that students could ride in local parades.
Many community members and businesses donated the necessary building materials and their labor to build the train. The train engine is built around an old truck and pulls four cars which can each hold eight children. It is covered with thousands of lights and is a sight to see.
Every year our school participates in many local Christmas parades. Students from our school ride through Knoxville, Chattanooga, Gatlingburg, Loudon, and Sweetwater. Our train has even participated in the annual Christmas parade in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania for the last several years, and was featured.
