Memories of growing up in Philadelphia
are very special to me. My mother, my father, and the happy home
I grew up in.
One of my fondest memories is the
Philadelphia Methodist Church, where I attended until I moved to Virginia.
Other memories are Philadelphia
School, Mrs. Helen Windel, my first
grade teacher, playing basketball, and all the friends I knew
in school.
Memories of my Aunt Josephine Davis who is very close to me and
her home was my second home. Judy Davis Webb, my cousin, who was
like a sister to me.
I remember the Philadelphia
Hosiery Mill, where my mother worked,
I would go see her there. The whistle blowing at 6:30 A.M. and
3:30 P.M.
Memories of Mr. Albert McCrary's
Store where
it was so much fun to go for ice cream and to shop with my mother
or father.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Philadelphia,
the people living there who were really good people, friends,
and always there in the time of need.
Thanks to my mother,Athna McGhee, my Aunt Josephine Davis, my
church the Philadelphia Methodist, and to Mrs. Helen Windle, my first grade teacher, for the guidance I received early in life growing up in Philadelphia, Tennessee.
